Robert Mitchum made a superb Philip Marlowe in director Dick Richards' stylish and entertaining 1975 mystery "Farewell, My Lovely", adapted from the Raymond Chandler novel and co-starring Charlotte Rampling, John Ireland, Sylvia Miles, Jack O'Halloran, Anthony Zerbe, Harry Dean Stanton, Joe Spinell, Sylvester Stallone and Kate Murtagh,.

  • @edwardjames50 Congratulations! Some of us just live right, I guess. ;-)

  • @SteveBrant55 ~ Thank for the tip, but I have a pristine, widescreen copy of it that I recorded on disc, when it aired on Flix. And it only cost $.25 for the blank disc!

  • For sale on iTunes now (finally) for $9.99. Thank you Apple!

  • @PetrusRuppert This great movie is finally available on iTunes!

  • @edwardjames50 You can buy it now on iTunes for $9.99. One of my favorite movies! So glad iTunes is finally selling it!

  • i liked elliot goulds interpertation of marlow better it was unique and not sterotypical.

  • @Victoria92646 ~ It was released on DVD long ago, and it's long been out of print. A while ago the DVD was available on Amazon, for FOUR HUNDRED BUCKS!!!!!

  • @PetrusRuppert ~ I saw it twice at the Loews State, on Times Square, in 1975.

  • @Victoria92646 Hello, do you know which theatre that was in? and a date of when you saw it? I'd be very interested to know.

  • Other than Bogart , can think of no other who so adequately fills the gumshoes of Philip Marlowe P.I. Quite simply Robert Mitchum was one of the most underrated actors in Hollywood. Mitchum's Filmography includes more than a few of the very best films made in Hollywood USA.

And last but by no mean least, the music is leaves you wanting to hear it again and again and again. In fact, it ranks up there with Taxi Driver and Chinatown.
