The principal at Robbinsdale Cooper High School caused a reaction at his school last spring when he decided to split his student body up by race to talk to them about their performance on assessment tests. Student and teacher reactions were mixed with some feeling uncomfortable with the segregation by race and others supporting the principal.
Principal Michael Favor said he wanted students to be aware of the achievement gap, which is a huge issue in government, but that some students are more concerned with learning the "stanky leg" than reading and math.
Instead of showing students the achievement gap between races, he showed students their school average by race compared to the state average. For one demographic -- Favor's African-American juniors -- the percentage of students who tested at a proficient level, which is the level required by law, jumped from about 4 percent to more than 12 percent.
Remember mister favor loves you.....lol.
