Angelo Branduardi in concerto nel Duomo di Santa Maria Maggiore a Spilimbergo per la presentazione di Futuro Antico II. Dirige il Maestro Renato Serio.
Suite Anglese
- Ballo Anglese, Saltarello (Giorgio Mainerio)
- Now, oh now I needs must part ( John Dowland )
- The Frog Gaillard from 'First Book Of Songes' ( John Dowland )
Now, oh now I needs must part (1597)
(John Dowland )
Now, oh now I needs must part,
parting though I obsent mourne
Absence can no ioye empart,
ioye once fled can not returne.
While I live I needs must love,
love lives not when hope is gone,
now at last despayre doth prove,
love devided loveth none.
sad dispaire doth drive me hence,
this dispaire unkindnes sends.
If that parting be offence,
it is she which then offendes

Je suis une grande fan d'Angelo et j'adore Sting;
j'ai toujours trouvé qu'ils avaient des points communs;
Je trouve que Sting apporte un + avec sa voix de rocker d'aujourd'hui, il modernise et personalise , et sort des "rails";

Yes, indeed. Angelo has a far more natural understanding for the humanity in this beautiful music than Sting does. His rendition is both simple and touching - a great musician, even if pitch is not always perfect.

I prefer Angelo singing Dowland than Sting...

Once again dear Carasibi from Torino, it seems you're my link to Angelo B.'s great Renaissance-performances in the range of Futuro Antico. I won't denie but got tears when listening to J.Dowland's "Now, oh now". Although familiar with his ancient music, this recording is very touching. Thanks again for posting (you've got to do something with poetry.... guess I'm sure!)
