thrash was actually a combination of Black Metal(i.e. venom), british heavy metal(motorhead and iron maiden), and punk(Misfits and later DRI). Punk shaped so many genres of music. When anyone hears the word "punk" today, they don't know what to think. One time this kid asked me if my brother listens to metal like i do(my brother is a punk) and i said "some but he mostly listens to punk" and the kid said "whats the difference". Just proves how ignorant and uneducated people are.

dude your a complete moron...punk was one of the first genres to go as fast as it did. thats how thrash got it. and grind came outta hardcore and crust. black metal maybe wasn't directly influenced by punk but it was influenced by genres that were...you need to read up on your shit and get educated...ask any one with a basic knowledge of music origins and history...your the biggest fuckin toy ever...piss off fuckin ignorant cunt
