Lafayette Radio Electronics was one of the nation's oldest electronics stores. They were based in Chicago and New York. Along with Allied Radio (which became radio Shack) they had a national presence long before any of these other dealers. Unfortunately they came upon hard times in the early 1980's, went Chapter 11, and were bought out by Circuit City, which was based out of Richmond, VA.

Blockbuster is on its way too, lol

Maybe I'm nutty, but my attention dwells on the no haggling trick. How did we the sheeple come to accept the word of salesman over common sense?
"I'm sorry, 500 dollars is the lowest price possible in accordace with Circuit City's 'no haggle' pricing policy. Trust me, that's te lowest price in town for that set plus the magic beans"
I wonder the reaction to:
"Circuit City does not negotiate with terrorists nor customers. Those seeking destruction or compromise not welcome".

I remember this commercial but they had it for the store in NY. lol!

Too bad they might file chapter 11
or Blockbuster may buy Circuit
They don't mean Lafayette as a city. Circuit City bought out a chain called Lafayette, and all the former Lafayette stores were known as Lafayette Circuit City for a while.
