  • is the concrete wall ok?

  • The Smart is one of the least safe vehicles on the market today. In a crash, the car should crumple to absorb the impact. The Smart only has about 2 feet of crumple space, meaning the passengers absorb almost all of the impact. The safety cell simply keeps the cabin in tact, so your body is easier to collect.

  • rather be in a big car when a truck wipes you out.

wonder if there is truck vs smart car

  • looks like a smart car threw up everywhere

  • @marshknute If supported, you can take these forces remarkably well. The reason why many people died/were injured in those American sleds, was because they were doing the pushing, all the impact was transferred to them, while a little Smart car bounces away instead. As well, today's inertia reel seatbelts and impact-supportive headrests make a world of difference.

  • i think theres a penis joke somewhere...

  • so the massage is clear - Buy a limozine!

  • in most cars you would be dead at a crash of 110km/h

  • @custommotor I have seen the footage, it was an '09 malibu VS. '59 bel-air...the bel-air is lighter than my car, and mine is at the point where it has seatbelts...if you look at the footage, that is what screwed the passengers...you are right though, I was talking about VS a smart car.

    here is the footage: /watch?v=cJrXViFfMGk

  • @montey1017 I would agree with you but I've seen some crash test videos in my Automotive classes and most new cars would rip it apart without hurting their passengers. I think the video i saw was a newer small chevy hitting something similar to a buick skylark.
