horn tips finger tight, the joint and the surfaces have been completely prepared to be glued together. This joint is going to bear the stress of the bow's brace and all the draws, so it required extra care but it is good. I had thought originally of using epoxy, but once i achieved a good strong fit i decided to use hide glue because i love its workability.

Again, this is a black locust longbow, about 72" long, being fitted with string nocks made of water buffalo horn which i brought in from Thailand. Traditionally this type of nock was used on yew longbows because the soft yew would otherwise be damaged by the string. I have found that the black locust sapwood compresses under the force of the string in a self-nock, but mainly i'm doing this just for fun.
