Stephen O'Neal attended Texas A&M back in 60's. He was born and raised in Hearne, TX. During Steve's freshman year, Coach Gene Stallings heard that O'Neal had punted for his high school football team, and the rest, as they say, is history.

In 1968, as a senior, O'Neal became a first-team All-American as a punter. He was drafted in 1969 by the New York Jets, and on September 21 of that year, O'Neal etched his name into NFL history books by connecting on a 98-yard punt, a world and NFL record that stands to this day.
