  • @bugledude Actually, in Beethoven's time, soloists were expected to take liberties with the notation. Notation is only an approximation. This is a non-argument in any educated trumpet player's life. If you play it straight in an orchestral audition, you would be cut immediately.

  • @Generic1987 i mean if Beethoven wanted thirty-second notes he would have wrote them.... So my question is who the fuck are you to disagree with Beethoven?

  • Yes Penzarella is going to tell Phil S. how to play a trumpet call. They were colleagues for over 30 years, not to mention he was principal trumpet of Baltimore, Radio City, NYCO and the MET Orchestras.

What's arrogant is some punk calling himself 'TheTrptGuy', and criticizing someone he obviously knows nothing about.

  • Penzarella is going to tell P. Smith how to play the Beethoven call - how arrogant.

  • Yes! Yes! Yes! Musicianship. Bravo! The hero is coming to free you from prison.

  • Vince Great to see you teaching and passing on your Knowledge to a new generation of musicians. Brings back memories. Hope all is well . All the best Karl Lukas

  • Sounds EXCELLENT!

  • @Arborwaychet

Because he does, because you need that type of ego/attitude to play the trumpet well. you have to be a little sick in the head to really get after good trumpet playing. just my two cents as a trumpet player myself.
