It's sort of a tossup as to which is better really. Corkscrew kick did lots of damage, but only if you got all the hits in, and it couldn't be connected to a flurry combo because it moved you rather far. Plus the startup time meant it could miss. Rolling punches on the other hand is weaker, but you can combo into it from a standard flurry of punches. Honestly, neither are great.
