  • What year was this?

  • I remember this ad. I also remember the days when you had to have a license to own a tv. If you had more tvs the more it cost.

  • He was the only thing decent on television.

  • lol that little red turtle neck boy is too cute

  • I remember there were 2 variations to this advert. The one you see here is the TVNZ version showing TVNZ shows the other was the TV3 version showing TV3 shows.

I am still glad I never had to pay a broadcasting fee.

  • The New Zealand of today is more liberal than the 1980's. I've seen the wizard a couple of times in the 2000's, he hasn't toned down his act for the sake of PC.

  • Thanks for uploading this clip its got me in it when I was about 10.I'm the young guy wit the bright yellow hoodie on at the start youll miss me if I blink...my brother, sister and cousins are in there too crack up.thanks for the memorys

  • its a shame that the wizards house burnt down. He lost all his books. He doesnt seem to be much of a presence in chch anymore. He had a good run though. It's nice to think that the nz of a generation ago was liberal enough to let a wizard be a wizard. Do you think we still are, times are a changing ay. Globalisation has definitely had somewhat of an impact on the laid back feel of 1980's nz. oh well.
