when in dublin, i lived at north king street, btw that was in 2005. happend to come across them several times on my way home late nites. i wouldn't be surprised if you had stood right at my side shooting this video :) and those guys are just amazing, fucking badasses !
The style and structure of klezmer as we know it today is thought to have come largely from 19th century Bessarabia (Romania), where the bulk of today's traditional repertoire was written. It is based on hora, sirba, doina, all of them of Romanian origin.
