    i agree, "Surely" was too quick for my taste, too., but it's very nice even so

  • After hearing the recording of Stephen Layton, Polyphony and Britten Sinfonia (from Hyperion Records) I can't hear any other recording cause this one is incredible. Outstanding. Godlike.

  • Moving! Isaiah 53:6-

    'All we like sheep have gone astray;

    We have turned, every one, to his own way;

    And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.'

  • The artistic result is very, very modest ...!!

  • Very nice! But the first part of "Surely" could have been more slowly, im my opinion it was too fast. If it had been slower, the contrast to the second part would have been greater and then the whole "Surely" would be more beatiful. But nevertheless a very nice recording.

  • Very good. I do think that And With His Stripes is done a bit more "prissy" than I would like here (although said prissiness fits perfectly with All We Like Sheep), but overall the vocal quality is great. It just shows the countless ways by which one can interpret The Messiah.

  • Accomplished. Well done. I'm just about to partake in a "scratch" Messiah locally. This has buttered my toast.! Super Sound.

    (If it's any consolation, I like sheep too!)

  • Surely is my favorite prt of Messiah

  • inspiring
