A move-over law has been on the books in South Dakota for several years. It says when emergency crews are on the shoulder of the road, you must move over to pass them.
But that doesn't always happen. Thirteen highway patrol cars were hit last winter (2010-2011) alone.
In hopes of reducing the number of accidents, and protecting the lives of law enforcement officers, the South Dakota Office of Highway Safety has launched a new campaign reminding dirivers to move over when the approach a vehivle flashing emergency lights.
This 30 second spot features Trooper Clark of the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
