This footage covers the first half of the Gebel Mattershah descent - a steeply plunging knife edge. This trail forms the crux part of the Ain Shafallah route in Sinai: arguably the most scenic and challenging ride in Sinai - a mountain biking Odyssey. The descent takes 25 minutes to complete with a vertical height drop of 500m. There are 20-30 steep switchbacks to negotiate. The location is very remote and in places feels like a lunar landscape. We found evidence of some old Roman/Judaic/Nabatean houses - it is probably an ancient camel route. There is an incredible network of vertiginous canyons. If you get lost you are buzzard food! Eventually one is spat out at the coast near Ras Shaitan. Unfortunately the camcorder batteries died out so I only recorded the first part. Alf shukran Mussallem!
