This is an interview with John ("Indy") and Gustavo. They are husbands, having been married first in May of 2008, some weeks before any of us knew gay marriage would become legal in California. Then they wed again on June 17, 2008 the first day gay marriage was legal in California.

This interview was filmed on Thursday, November 6, the 2nd night of protests against the passage of Proposition 8, banning marriages like theirs from legal recognition by the State government. They had just come from a protest march in West Hollywood at which Gore Vidal had spoken.

I would like to thank them for the pizza.

  • If you pay attention, most places that have legalized same-sex marriage are socialists or worker-oriented so next time maybe start networking with poorer working people rather than relying on rich Hollywood people. But don't give up Californians soon you will catch up with milk producing states like Iowa and Vermont, Black-Majority South Africa and Catholic-majority Spain and...pft Canada (lol -sorry couldn't help it). Soon you'll have to catch up with Uruguay, Albania and Portugal. yikes.

  • It isnt winning its earning our rights back and being viewed as equals in society. There is no winning when we are denied rights. There will be no winning till all people are treated equally.
