On a trip to St. George, Utah, many people asked me about Canadian medical coverage. Many were surprised to find out how good I thought it was. Canadians never have to have something hanging over our heads, thinking we'll lose our homes or go bankrupt....or that we'll lose coverage. As the U.S. goes through their debabe about changing it's system, I thought I'd give a perspective about what Canada has. Good luck to the Americans on their quest to make sure everyone has coverage.
Great video!

@BJ219 Umm, no private insurance companies are not tax payer funded. That's why they are private. The individual provincial gov't insurance is tax payer funded.

@MadHabber93 I see - is it also true that the private insurance companies there are taxpayer-funded? If so, how is this any different from direct distribution by the state?

@BJ219 The elderly or seniors are covered through the individual provincial gov't insurance, so 65 and older. Same with the poor. Everyone else must buy private insurance, though the vast majority get that through their employer.

How does the Canadian system cover prescriptions? I've read you have to get private insurance to cover them (I assume the elderly and poor are exempt from this in Canada)

I'm glad most Canadians are content with it..how's it gonna work in America where half the people dont pay income taxes?

@TRZbebop675 actually you pay more for insurance than any other country pays on taxes for healthcare :D its a lie that we would pay more taxes. how about this. cut military budget by 500billion and use that to have healthcare for the whole country... even with 500 billion in cuts military would still have 1 trillion in budget... more than any other nation

see i am an american and our "leaders" would run the healthcare system down to the ground just to make more money for insurance companies

From 2014:- No insurer will be able to turn you down for coverage no matter how sick you are or become and you will pay no more than the wellest person; women will not pay more than men just because they have more health issues, contraception will be free; Insurers will really start competing. That is assuming so called "Obamacare" is not repealed
