Samson et Dalila (English: Samson and Delilah), Op. 47, is a grand opera in three acts and four tableaux by Camille Saint-Saëns to a French libretto by Ferdinand Lemaire. It was first performed at the Grossherzogliches (Grand Ducal) Theater (now the Staatskapelle Weimar) in Weimar on 2 December 1877 in a German translation.
A beautiful performance of the gorgeous aria. Saint-Saens really shines here. This and Symphony no. 3 are his masterpieces.

@jirizika1962 So true what you have said.
As she herself stated it, she had no competition.
She meant her extraordinary repertoire, but this stands just as true for the incomparable voice quality she has. One and only, it is so true.

Why always I meet something new sung by Maria Callas I finelly must find out that it is the best version of the piece I have ever heard. She could recorded all existing soprano /and mezzo too/ roles at the time of her peak and we would have definitive versions of all of them !!
Thank you Maria for giving us such beauty and perfection !!
