This video shows the GIBC's water spigot near the west end of the Toll Bridge that has a metered connection to Grosse Ile Township's 12" water line. The GIBC has had a metered connection to the Township's water since the 1960s. The GIBC is proposing to connect a fire hydrant to this same Township-owned water line in order to enhance fire protection for the Toll Bridge and meet a Riverview ordinance requirement for the GIBC's long-planned new operations building. On July 19, 2007, the Township Department of Public Services Director and the Township Manager rejected the GIBC's fire hydrant proposal. Their decision is supported by the Grosse Ile Township Board.
