how old is the dog?????? . I understand the elephant will come trough the death of her friend but it will be so sad for her

@snakelips05 Bella came to the Sanctuary as a full grown stray dog, so we do not know her exact age for sure--but her vet estimates she is probably around 10-11 years old right now.

If Tarra & Bella are in separate areas and Tarra starts talking, have you noticed whether Bella knows Tarra's voice or not? And have there been times when one calls and the other comes running to them?

Also, do you have your own web page where donations are made?--like via paypal?

@SerenityNow1999 Yes,Tarra & Bella know one another's voices/calls. There was an incident in April, 2009 where Bella apparently got tangled in some barbed wire down in a steep gully, and Tarra was frantic with worry when she could not reach her to help. By the time caregivers reached Bella, she had already freed herself and was just fine. I am so happy these gentle giants are free from abuse!!!!! They have feelings, extremely intelligent and even smile. How anyone could hurt any of them is beyond me, I love watching the videos over and over. for some reason I can relate to their former pain as I also was abused. UP WITH THE TN SANTUARY loving and kind care for the world's most beautiful creatures in the wrold!!!!!!

So sweet! What a darling and very happy girl elephant - and look - she's smiling! She would have to feel safe and contented to express like this, and your sanctuary provides these.
