@cruztacean He did have issues with alcohol as well as other demons particularly during the 70's that you hear so often with popular artists....I can only read about these, as I'm too young to remember things at the time. But what I do know is that, when people for whatever reason, go through these tough times, we just don't know what goes on in their heads. not everything is black and white. Tanya Tucker, also had her own Demons, including drink and drug problems.

@looking4ferdy Well, first of all, I don't think people who drive drunk and fight with cops, which prompted that mug shot, are particularly upstanding citizens. When he and Tanya Tucker were together, he beat her up. Years later he's talking self-righteously in a television interview about how he prays for her lost soul--and that was directly before the drunk driving. Yeah, some room he has to be talking about Tanya, especially after the way he treated her.

Don't like the singer. (It's his character, not his music, that I dislike.) But I do like this song. Very cleverly written, the way the lines overlap each other.
