=================================

Once again, getting funky with the CBC Jazz Ensemble, playing Les Hooper's old-skool funk chart "Raisin' The Roof". As always, my best pal Juan Hernandez (on bass) really throws down here.

(To see a video of Juan during this song shot from a camera phone in the audience, go check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZAa0iF0MG0 and leave Juan a nice comment on his channel!)

Hope you all get a kick out of this; feel free to leave comments and suggestions in the comment box. Questions about gear or anything else? Go to http://www.derekmunson.com and take a peek - you'll probably find what you're looking for. :D

Thanks for watching!

  • hey derek its me the guy from mexico ..hey could you give me some fills with drum bass and hands,, i must to learn how to get the drum bass in my fills...could you give some exercises please?? (:

  • I absolutely can, guy from Mexico! (You should just tell me your name.) ;)

    I am going to do some filming tomorrow, so maybe I can make a quick lesson about working on getting the bass drum involved in your fills? I'll see what I can do. :D

  • that's what i like to see: 0 dislikes :D

  • I'm always surprised to see that on some of my videos! There's so many haters out on YouTube, so it's really kind of cool to see "zero" of them have stopped by. :D

  • Dude your freaking amazing me and my friends started a little funk quintet a little while ago and you seriously inspire me to practice a lot more.

  • Right on! Glad to hear it. Thanks for the props, and for the subscription! :D

  • @880906 Not to jump in too much, but I thought I couldn't let this one go; THE book on incorporating your bass drum into fills etc is Colin Bailey's 'Bass Drum Control Solos'. Not just 'Bass Drum Control', which is also a great classic book and definitely worth it but the actual 'Solos' book. There is nothing better if you want to bring your foot up to speed so to speak.

  • jaja hey am sorry.my name is ivan alexander from monterrey mexico..yea if you could do that will be great..i really like the way you play..there are no drummers with your style here in mexico so, i could learn a lot from you..thank you (:

  • Thank you! Started when I was 3, and I'm 29 now, so....25+ years, I guess? Pretty much all my conscious life. ;)

  • you're literally amazing.. long long have you been playing?
