  • The saxohonist kills on this song! I can almost envision myself in a smoky club watchin' this lady reminisce. Her best song although her voice suffers the ravages of a hard life at this point in her career...

  • @blmiddleton You need to read Doris Lessing.

  • Today is then a historic date for you, eh?

  • Thank you so much for posting this. I was looking for this song on youtube and someone finally posted it. Thanks!!

  • SUPERLATIVE

  • Where have all the music gone?...

  • Hi taureau20.

Will u please upload a less compressed version of the song?

It hurts to listen to the fantastic Billie H. with such bad sound.

    She surely deserves better.

    Bass D'Phar

  • Check out "Nat Wright Sings" he sings a great rendition of this song. Remarkable range and clean high notes.

  • I had no idea Lay Day ever sang this song..many, many thanks..

  • To blmiddleton: What is she supposed to sound like (?) - Listen to the lyrics. It's completely appropriate for her to have a mature voice. And why does everyone beat Billy up for a part of her private life that was herion? (If that's not what you were referring to I've heard it enough to make me want to defend Ms. Holiday.) She was prolific and active with the perfect voice. Who wants vice-less blues singers anyway. She's deep, thoughtful in her delivery and a classic beauty. Ravages? STRENGTH.

  • A true classic

  • Oh the memories.! TY for posting.

  • @blmiddleton I'll just throw my hat in the ring too! "It's Benny Webster!"

  • does anyone know who the guitarist is on this track?

  • Though it uses blue notes, this is not a blues tune. It is a 32-bar song form.

  • Harry "Sweets Edison - Trumpet

    Ben Webster - Tenor Sax

    Jimmy Rowles - Piano

    Barney Kessel - Guitar

    Joe Mondragon - Bass

    Alvin Stoller - Drums

  • Linda, linda, linda! Billie, para sempre amada.

  • Timeless!
