How is he "silenced"? The questioner attempted to browbeat Judt with boorish speculation as to his motives in criticizing Israel and Mr. Judt responded with eloquent aplomb, notwithstanding the fact that one couldn't hear him very well. Perhaps that was the "silencing"!

Silenced? NOT!! He answered in a calm, relaxed and measured way. Also, "scrappy"? how so? I also did not see him 'suffer' and the use of the word 'Horrendous' is not an accurate description of the exchange. Tony Judt was a remarkable man, who died much too young. His work remains remarkable. I wish this questioner could give Judt back the 10 minutes of his life he wasted.
