My good friend Mark & I ending the day coming down Blood Mountain on Highway 129 in North Georgia after a day of riding in Western North Carolina. We had just finished riding what we call the "Cherohala Loop" or making a "Cherohala Run." We sometimes manage to squeeze in Deals Gap and the Tail of the Dragon on these fun rides. Mark's 2008 Suzuki Hayabusa and my 2007 Yamaha FJR1300 are perfect motorcycles for touring this part of the country. It's a perfect one day ride leaving the North Atlanta area by 8 or 9 AM and returning home by 6 to 8 PM. Sometimes we stay overnight at Tapoco Lodge or Fontana Village. I understand the Tapoco Lodge is now closed :-( and it's for sale. Hopefully someone will buy it a reopen it soon. It has a deep history in the area and was an awesome place to stay.
