  • have u considerd making a series of dvds?

  • @glitch4465 one day when i learn to edit i will think about doing dvds, thanks for your comments.

  • Great clip and your channel is for me a goldmine of treasured memories. I sat for hours with my Ian Allan combined volume at Salisbury, be it 25 years befor you filmed the 47. Every clip is fascinating for one reason or another. Thank you for recording these clips, I remember all the locations. At 12 years old we could travel the country for pocket money and always safely. Often we did Fishgaurd ,Penzance, Minehead or Newcastle in a day. I miss the old infrastructure and signals in your vids

  • thanks very much for your comment,i know what you mean about todays railtravel its almost impossible to go long distances by rail and get their and back in a day,oh for the old postal trains with one or two coaches for passengers, rail travel ceases after midnight.all the best for xmas and the new year russ.

  • what a gem of a vid! its great to see 47s being driven like that! work stained as well,i remember doing 715 and 706 on the push pulls in scotland and i rekon that they were by far the best maintained and driven 47s pure thrash! ooh you can almost smell them! thanks great memories

  • Thanks, They really were good old days! Youngsters are very intrigued by all those workings compared to todays Voyagers and single car DMU services i.e Crewe to Cardiff or Chetenham to Penzance! The postal and parcels trains with a mk1 and brake 2nd in it somewhere was a lifesaver late at night, so glad photography was invented and people like yourself captured these images on record. Used to watch Cornish TPO at St Erth and have b/w prints of 42s and 52s on it. Great days. Happy Xmas

  • I wish Salisbury was still like this so much !!! Well done.
