http://www.certpharmacytechnician.com/pharmacy-technician-training.php - Recruiters nowadays prefer individuals who are either licensed or at least enrolled in a pharmacy technician training course. Those days are gone when pharmacy associates were selected even not having previous working experience or knowledge and simply learned how on the actual work. With knowledge and skills now getting to be qualification, community or vocational schools and colleges and universities have developed courses to address this particular need.
@DaSolidAce Like I said, I have not been working as a tech, but as a dispensing tech in a lab, which does not require a license. With thousands of unemployed techs in Los Angeles and in an employers market - I think they are looking for someone who is actively working in a real pharmacy. Another thing in LA is knowing spanish or chinese or even armenian.

All sounds great! I have been licensed as California State pharmacy technician for 10 years and cannot find a job in Los Angeles, but have gone on interviews. The interviewer will ask how come you have not been working as a Pharmacy technician? I answer that there aren't many opportunities. Look how many schools there are and then look up pharmacy tech on Careerbuilder & see how many jobs there are. You'll see the same 2 jobs on every job search engine
