  • HELP!!!, I understand your gravity swing, Pennies dropped, although my big question is at impact. Are my shoulders sqaure at impact with hip approx 30-40 degres open? I find myself being completly symetrical both left and right like a pendulam. I keep seeing vids saying I need to be slightly open at impact, but no reference to shoulders (open aswell or square) please help by confirming shoulder position and hip position, (especially driver) ta shaun.

  • @scouseralph Have a look at my "throwing the club" video as well as my "Ridiculously easy" part 1 and 2 videos; you will notice that the shoulders are open at impact as well! The body has an amazing ability to anticipate what it needs to do to get out of the way IF YOUR FOCUS IS ON YOUR ACTION TO TARGET!!!

See also "Hammer Through", "Farm Hammer" and "fishing and golf" for great analogies and feel for the action to target; Shawn

  • how can tour pros let the arms fall when they swing so quickyl? it looks that in their swing gravity never metters. thats strange...

  • @CosmicSPC Not all pros are fast with the arms; ask who most pros want to emulate and they will say Ernie Els, Fred Couples and anyone else who has a more natural rhythm; to understand this natural rhythm, see my "golf pro lesson get great rhythm" video; You are also talking about guys who are the best athletes on this planet! They can hit the ball well with many different swings! Shawn

  • @Shawn,

Even with a perpetual motion sort of backswing, my upper arms and shoulder muscles are ''in use'' and therefore tensed. How can one, with tensed muscles, let the arms free fall, which imho requires no muscle tension at all. Switch off some sort of button ? This isue bothers me already for quite some time !

  • @kena0angin If you use something heavier, like a weighted club or a set of horse shoes like I show in my video "golf pro lesson horse shoes and lassos"; you will feel what I am talking about; IT IS NOT THE ARMS SWINGING A CLUB, IT IS THE BODY ALLOWING THE ARM-CLUB UNIT TO SWING! Shawn

  • This is incredible.

This will sort my chipping issues im sure.

I dont have this problem in the full swing but with chipping i can see how i have been restricting my arms with ribs due to lack of body rotation.

I honestly thought it was a mental issue 'choking' on short game but i can agree its restricting arms on backswing and downswing. Another great lesson from Shawn.

Somehow my short shot thought has been short chips keep body still and its all wrong. Crystal clear logic as usual thanks

  • Thank you for this video... the light has turned on... but it doesn't always stay on. When I let things fall and don't try to yank control of the club back to me... beautiful. But for some reason, my default is to yank it back on the downswing, hit at the ball and then... bleh. Any mental suggestions for keeping the light on?

  • Shawn, you should have your own Golf show...great instruction that most can understand or relate to

  • Perhaps the best video EVER from Shawn to understand the golf swing. Let the arms fall, maintaining the Y with arms and turning your hips & shoulders within your stance. Serious practice is required in letting arms fall and applying acceleration (the juice) .

  • Thanks Shawn.

  • Hi Shawn, I practised your gravity swing for two weeks at the range and finally I UNDERSTOOD. Now I can hit 145 yds with 9 iron. I am small old asian guy. Its amazing results. Question. lagging (or pushing toward target) is natural manipulation using lower body, right? Thanks a million. Charlie from Alberta

  • Shawn that move you make right before the takeaway. it looks like you bump your back knee slightly to start your takeaway. what does that do exactly?? Is that to help you stop from picking up the club or does that help with getting you into position on the backswing?
