@cjtrouble Actually, you have it backwards. The high e string is considered the first string, and so on. e - first B - Second G - Third D - Fourth A - Fifth E - Sixth

bro. one thing that will help you out is to learn the names of the strings. 1st string - E. 2nd string - A. 3rd string - D. 4th string - G. 5th string - B. 6th string (smallest string) - e. btw. strumming pattern --- hit the low e twice then play the 13/11/13 chord and let it ring. :D

I'm not really sure how it would be beneficial to use the string names while giving chords (which I didn't use note names either). If anyone wants them they can send me a message though...

no, but my guitar's not the best and it may not have been completely in tune and my I did it on a digital camera so take you pick :)

These instructions are basically all wrong, except for some bits. The strumming is incorrect as well. It's not about having banana fingers, its about learning to play it right. I suggest you watch live John Mayer videos and practice more!

I figured I could have some artistic license with it. And in most of his songs you have to have long fingers to play it exactly like he does such as "neon". My hands are not quite as big so I play it like is in the video and I've got the "any given thursday" dvd and he does do some cheesey slides in it.
