MTV Africa has announced the first ever Africa Music Awards

MTV Africa has announced the nominees for its first ever Africa Music Awards. The nominations were announced at Planet One, in Lagos, Nigeria. Announcing the nominees was Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks Africa and the Zain Group. Accompanying him were nominees D'Banj, Wahu, DJ Cleo and Naeto C.

Hm, really i think that MTV Africa is going to just help push not only American music onto the continent..but to support African music that sounds most like Western Music. I also find it weird i heard someone use the word Sub Saharan. Does MTV Africa divide africa into North and Sub Saharan? That's quite silly.

And again, anyone especially western african will never accept the fact that such an award show can be made without the likes of Koffi Olomide, Meiway, Werrason etc even mentioned. I think they really need to consider renaming this award thing.

well, Africa is just way too big and diverese to have 1 little MTV music Award. Maybe they should call this "English Africa award" or something like that becoz a great part of the continent which is french speaking relates to a total different type of music. Besides, if its African awards, where are the original african rythms? English africans rythms have too much hip hop and RnB influnce which really is not unique to africa

this MTV MAMA was just launched last year and i am pretty sure they will add more categories and genres in it....we just need to chill and watch what they gone do about it...just stop complaining coz it aint gone do any good...
