the scoldinng part at the end by mr knightley of emma is really masterful because you see knightley knows emma to be a far better person than how she behaved. He really knows her and cant stand to see her acting with such disregard for miss bates .... Only he can tell her when she is in the wrong and get her to see the folly of her ways . This is the moment you realize he is emmas match her equal.

@seggirard well, thinking of it...that might also be because my boyfriend is physically his ringer. lol

Funny, it might be because I'm not English and totally bilingual, but in the beginning I adore Mr Elton dispite the fact that he was absolutely annoying, and now I adore Mr Churchill and don't see him as a bad guy... Well or I love bad guys, or I just don't get all the subtilities of the story for I am not bilingual :) ! Never mind, even if I see why Mr Churchill can be annoying, I don't see him like such, I just find him only ironic and I find amusing how scornful he can be !

"oh the heat is unbearable" says Emma covered with a long sleeve jacket and a long dress

NGL, I laughed when Emma handed out that sick burn but this part is always toe-cringingly awkward. I do feel sorry for Miss Bates.

i really enjoy BBC's adaptations of victorian litterature. Emma, little dorit, pride and prejudice, wives and daughters, north and south, etc. Such a good work... i hope they know it's appreciated. Thank you cat4fab for uploading.

how boring people! they're in such bad mood that they take everything in the wrong way, as an insult, oh ema Inconsiently in one moment she let go all the represion of hearing that woman during all her life...
I love knightly's "badly done emma" and jane's wisdom "only weak characters are determined to be unhappy forever"
When Emma insults Miss Bates I always have to go brush my teeth or do something else to distract me. I feel so sorry for Miss Bates!!

mr. churchill: (very loudly) well, i am not ashamed to repeat myself. from the very first moment i saw ms. woodhouse in february, let everyone in boxhill hear me, (even louder) i found her irresistible!" ~ now cue mr. knightley's oh-god-shut-up-you-fucking-wanker-i'm-thisclose-to-kicking-your-arse face.
