Heinrich (Hendrick) Isaac (around 1450-55 March 26, 1517) was a Franco-Flemish composer of the Renaissance born in Flanders, likely in Brabant. He is regarded as one of the most significant contemporaries of Josquin des Prez, and had an especially large influence on the subsequent development of music in Germany.

  • Dear Micrologus2

As a member of Capilla Flamenca I have a question: would it be possible to add us to the tag-list? The singer is Lieven Termont. I found your youtube by coincidence but am very pleased to find it here!

    Many greetings, Tore Denys

  • Dear Toretenore, by this I added Capilla Flamenca to the tag-list. Bedankt om mij erop attent te maken, ik zal de overige videos een voor een bijwerken. Bedankt voor al deze mooie muziek!

  • ist doch wunderbar.

aber was soll diese aufnahme mit innsbruck zu tun haben???

  • Isaac was writing music by the mid 1470s, and the first documentary reference to him is from 1484, when he was court composer at Innsbruck for Duke Sigismund of Austria, of the House of Habsburg.

  • I didn't find a picture of Innsbruck that realy pleased me, so I took the pic of Schloss Tratzberg instead.

  • It's a beautiful sounding rendition. But you can barely hear the melody as only the Tenor sings (while Soprano is Cantus firmus) and the Flute plays Alto one octave higher. Strange.

  • Please, who,s playing this version (sorry for my english)??

    Thanks!! Is wonderful!!!!!

  • I fondly remember singing this back in 2006, in a Dalhousie University Early Music Ensemble - my introduction to Isaac!! It was pure heaven for me, and still is.

  • Marvelous performance.

  • "Unfortunately" the soprano became the real hit for the next centuries, with many other sacred texts, as in Bach´s St. Matthew´s Passion.

  • halleluja ! ! ! that intepretation is correct, cantus firmus is Tenor. many times you hear it wrong... its a pitty

    thanks for posting

  • Das Schloss Tratzberg liegt im Unerinntal zwischen Schwaz und Jenbach in unserem schönen Land Tirol... übrigens wunderschöne Version mit dem Cantus Firmus im Tenor..!!!!

  • haha I've been in this castle :D it's really nice.
