I've also got to call out Bill on this one. Hey Bill, she is obviously in a bad mood and wants no part of this party, just leave her alone.

She wants no part of the party, and the other people don't want her there, but she goes anyway?
Hey Sarah, Caller ID doesn't yet exist, call in a bomb threat!

What is funny about this is that it isn't even an accurate portrayal of 1958! By 58' rock and roll had already hit the airwaves and teens (including my mother) already had record collections stocked with 45s by Elvis, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry. Yet these kids are still dancing to swing big band music. I understand why given the conformist nature of the film and who put it together but the kids in the film were already in a time warp.

This should of been sponsored by Purina Cat/Dog Chow....judging from all the catty bitches.

@battra92 Good point. This may be among the last of the true "social adjustment" films made. With the launch of Sputnik in 1957, Americans blamed (among other things) schools teaching conformity and popularity instead of math and science was how the Rooskies got into space first. Although she would still have to struggle with sexist attitudes, Sarah would be getting more respect for her studies. That might make her less likely to use snobbery as a defense mechanism (as someone mentioned).

You know, I am starting to realize it may be the directors of these shorts that may have something to do whether the actors' performances are bad or not. This one feels really good storywise and the emotions/actions are very fluent to what the actors are conveying. Its like they are in a actual movie. Compared to some actors in other shorts that have no emotion or act relax and convincing, I wouldn't be suprised if some of the directors for these shorts went on to producel hollywood movies.

So the get-together was fine for her until that ugly student council guy from "What About Juvenile Delinquency?" intervened.....sad, really....

The Snob seems to have been frozen out by the "gang" first, judging by the way they treat her. We don't know what happened **before** the film.

@courtneyrao lol another d-bag diluting the meaning of words. studious is the word you're looking for.

@westholmes2001 Youre a snob!
Or in other words: Girls, do NOT do your homework! If you try to be better than anyone else you're being a snob! Instead of wasting your time on accomplishments and goals focus on the important things in life - being popular and pleasing others! Otherwise everyone around you will suffer!
P.S. Boys, the above does not apply to you.
