publishers and banks fund the devlopement, the box set price then repays the publishers and the banks, profit is made through the ingame store and expansion, simple.
just look at a league of legends, it doesn't even have a box set price, only an ingame cosmetics store and yet still provides almost monthly balancing patching and new champions every few months, month by month is probably releases more new content than most subscription games.

@TheSiraset Yeah but that was a new mmo. Guild Wars has been around as long as WoW if not longer and now this is the upgraded version. Upgraded to be the best mmo there is. There literally tryin to achieve perfection and taking everyones MMO's wants and needs into consideration. Plus its no monthly payment. =]
