  • @RancidSka1 Make sure you're good at sharpening, first, though. Freehand sharpening is a bitch to learn at first, but once you've got the hang of it, it'll pay off.

  • @MrMetalBurrito Cheers i've recently got my hands on a sharpening stone and some deer antlar but ill save that for when im a little better at carving.

  • @RancidSka1 But seriously, any wood'll do. But if you use harder wood with a not-so-great knife, I recommend whittling by your sharpening stone so if your knife dulls, you can always do a quick and dirty resharpen.

  • @MrMetalBurrito Lol thank you for that.

  • @RancidSka1 the kind that comes on trees.

  • Hi, What wood are you using ?

  • @Pookspoons Try amazon.co.uk - Flexcut KN100 4pc Wood Carving Knife

  • how often do you sharpen your knife?

  • Are whittling knives different to a normal pen knife? I.e shorter blades etc.. ..I have just decided I'd like to buy a kit (if this is possible in the UK) for my 23 year old son as a gift. he loves making stuff and this would be brilliant for him. Great video by the way. I love the way you can see what you are making in the wood even before its been born! Incredible!!

  • Any craft store has bass blocks and whittling knives for sale. We have Michael's in Las Vegas.
