ROV Osprey, designed by the Purdue University IEEE ROV Team, running through its submarine rescue mission. ROV Osprey will be competing in the 2009 International MATE ROV competition. This ROV has a unique feature, called its tail, that allows it to alter its pitch and lift extremely heavy objects while remaining relatively small. We are an Explorer class team.

  • So interesting note - the ELSS pods ROV Osprey lifted in practice (and this video) were measured terribly (by me)

They weigh closer to 20 newtons while it was only required to lift 2 newtons at the competition... Didn't prove to be a problem at the competition though.
