Here is the world premiere broadcast of the orchestral version of Samuel Barber's Adagio for strings. It took place in New York on May 11th, 1938. Arturo Toscanini conducted the NBC Symphony Orchestra. Also presented at that concert was "Essay for Orchestra," now known as Essay #1.
