This really is an issue that a lot of people like to ignore and sweep under the rug until it affects them personally. Until they or someone close to them has thoughts of suicide they cast a stigma on those who have tried before. Having someone close to me have thoughts of suicide has really made me aware of its significance. Hearing stories from actual people also really puts it into perspective that suicide is not just a label applied to people who are depressed but a serious matter.

actually, we are only one of a handful of universities throughout the U.S. that even offers a class on the subject. We are hoping that others will also have the chance to take it at some point.
