Charlie Chaplin released City Lights in 1931. Romantic Chaplin comedy where the Little Tramp falls in love with a blind Flower Girl played by Virginia Cherrill. She mistakenly believes he is a wealthy Gentleman. The Tramp, sacrificing his liberty, steals money to pay for her sight to be restored. After release from Jail fate brings them face to face in a final scene regarded as one of the most moving endings in cinema history.
