I Was There When It Happened - Johnny Cash ( Cover )

Having yet to do a cover by the great Johnny Cash, I decided to put this one together recently of "I Was There When It Happened." This is a gospel song he really liked that you can hear being played in the movie "Walk The Line" right before he's told that Sun Records can't market gospel of that sort anymore, which leads to him playing "Folsom Prison Blues." It's a really catchy tune, although it isn't what most of us think of when Johnny Cash comes to mind. This is also the only cover I've posted so far in which I recorded my own backing vocals.

i too am a johnny cash coverer, u did a good job covering but personally ive always sang johnny with a much lower voice and a cleaner guitar

@wert24300 Johnny Cash had a deep voice. I do not. I think that much is self-explanatory. I wouldn't know exactly what you mean by a "cleaner" guitar. It doesn't get much cleaner than an unplugged acoustic. In any case, this is a pretty old recording I did. I have a few live performances from the Stella Blue in Asheville, SC which I feel serve as a better tribute to John than this does. I guess this video just pops up often because so very few have bothered to perform it on YouTube.
