Google Goggles is a visual search app for Android phones, which allows
you to search the web by taking a picture. To find information about nearby businesses, just point your phone at a store. Goggles will show you the name of the business, using the camera's GPS and compass. And you can tap the name of the business to get more details.
Need this on the iPhone desperately!

Yeah, you know, since I made that comment, I read more info that came out about it and changed my opinion. This thing is cool.

They are merely showing that as an example of what it can do. Imagine you're in a shopping plaza and cannot see the businesses on the next street, etc. Imagine you are in front of a restaurant but before you go in you want to check the review, clicking the business name in Goggles let's you view the info. There are several other possibilities, but as it's still early beta they will only be shown in time. For example, neighborhood it shows a block or so of businesses I didn't know about.

OK, this is cool, but I am not really getting what practical use it has, at least just by looking at this video. If I'm already there, standing in front of a business and looking at its sign that says "Comedy Club" or whatever, then exactly why do I need to point my phone at it and have the phone tell me what I can clearly see with my own eyes? Anyway, when it starts to also ID everyone walking by, that's when I get scared. :)
