@rattacular12 So we had 6 of us in my unit that couldnt do our 2 week acdutra and were PROMISED "Oh we will all get waivers" HA! Never got a waiver which would have allowed us to get the points without having done our 2 week training. So we were pretty much screwed.We were so underfunded in the 90's the joke was if we went to Bosnia,Somalia ( anywhere to distract from the WH problems) it would be Broomsticks we would have to paint black then yell BANG as we pointed them!

@Dodgeoffroadfreak LOL No Prob Bill Clinton had a new rule put in lace where you could only serve 20 years and then you were out. They were trying to get rid of lifers who had well over 20 years in. It was pretty sad for some of them. So with that rule in place if you didnt get your "points" for the year you had to make them up.BUT if you only had 19 years of points on your 20th anniversary of being in you were out thanks for playing. You couldnt make them up

@Dodgeoffroadfreak Underfunded in the 90's lost my retirement points and Slick Willie had enacted a 20 and out bullshit rule.Well if you cant serve an extra year then why do it? So a bunch of us kinda just gave up.and quit. Honorable Discharges but I would give anything to have gotten my points back and stayed in.

@Dodgeoffroadfreak I was an EO when I was in and would go back if they called me right now. Pack it up and GO! Never saw a ship except when touring one in San Diego,You will be trained for combat mainly defensive but atill its combat training. I was a grenadier and part of the 60 crew( we were short people can you tell?) I was lucky enough to be able to fire not only the 60 and grenade launcher but a full blown 50.We would work a normal day and then off to the bar.Bees ROCK!
