Chernobyl Heart Girl Sofia

Two and a half year old Sofia received a life saving heart operation in June 2008 through Chernobyl Children's Project International's cardiac program in Ukraine. http://chernobyl.typepad.com. In this candid video, a volunteer member of the surgical team feeds this very small, thin girl.

what a precious girl. i would love to volunteer with kids like her. i'm a native russian, currently living in new york. i'm a writer but i do have experience working with children. does the project still need volunteers? and if so, how can i apply?

wow, this video always makes my day a little brighter. not all chernobyl children will be this fortunate, no. but it's so great to see some programs truly trying to help as much as is possible. such a sweet girl who seems to have a bright future ahead of her.
