This is a review of my SansAmp Bass Driver DI stomp box. (It is my first review, so I apologise if it is a little rough :P)

I have had this for about 6 months now, and I can happily say it is one of the best things I have ever bought. It can make absolutely an amp sound huge, and really nice.

This video goes through some of the main features of the pedal, as well as me playing some sound clips of various different settings.

  • Thanks for your reply !

One more question, what is the "line inst output" and "line inst XLR" switch for? Is it used to activate/deactivate the 1/4" output and XLR output ?

  • @tanakanu Basically those two switches control the output level through the output and XLR lines. For example, if you are using the 1/4" output to go to a bass amp, you would have it set to instrument, as the bass amp would boost the signal. If you are using the pedal to go straight into a mixing desk unamplified, then you would select line, as this gives a higher output volume. Same with the XLR switch.

  • Nice video mates !!!!!

I'm just wondering if this pedal suitable for an active pickup bass ? Cuz i'm using an active pickup bass and looking for a good pedal for both recording and live performance !

  • @tanakanu thanks :) yea, the pedal is suitable for active pickups as well as passive ones. I found that the best thing to do is to leave all the tone controls on the bass flat (i.e. in the 12 o'clock position), and adjust the sansamp to get the sound you want.

  • nice video man! btw, i just wanna know if you're using an active or a passive pick ups? coz im using a jazz bass with active emg pick ups. i'll wait for your reply. thanks in advance!

  • @DUELMOPilipinas Hey man. thanks :) I'm using a jazz bass with passive pick ups and some slightly dead EB strings if I remember correctly, haha.

  • Watching this video on my cell going to a music store to buy it!

  • @alex1128m Hey. It is possible, but you ideally need a sound card with a 1/4" jack input on it, which tend to cost more than the cheaper/intermediate USB interfaces. You can also do it with an adapter to plug into 3.5mm mic input on your computer, but the quality of this can vary quite alot. (You can pick these adapters up on amazon for like £5 or so, so it might be worth a try).

  • Hey Adam,

Is it possible to connect your DI box directly to your laptop/computer? Like guitar>sansamp>computer? Do I need any special cables for this?>?
