What was the reporter talking about? The vast majority of insurance companies cover contraceptives. Look it up. I was/am pro-Obama, but I have to say that McCain wasn't in the wrong here; the question was bogus.

The actual number of abortions dropped to a new low, with 1.2 million abortions in 2005, compared to a high of 1.6 million abortions in 1990.
that was off a us news article.

yeah i understand a woman can enjoy sex but she can also take preventative measures. condoms, pills, diaphragms, and all the other things that prevent pregnancy. if they fail they have the morning after pill.

if they cannot support it then give it up for adoption.

Well that's the point of this video, Mccain should support contraception 120% and his ignorance on this issue is embarrasing for a presidential hopeful.

Im glad to see that you not only support contraception but also the morning after pill (some people consider that abortion)

I dont know where you live, maybe adoption is an absolute hit where you are, but here millions (and its no exageration) of children grow to adulthood as wards of the state.I cant tell you how miserable that life is.

i support it because i know that people wont stop having sex and why should they. but abortion should never be used as a form of birth control. the kid shouldnt be punished for the parents lack of judgment.

living in california i am far from the normal liberal. i am almost 100% conservative. im not sure what the adoption rate is but after graduating high school last year hearing all the girls talking about their last abortion was really disturbing to me.

Abortion should not be the primary source of birth control but prohibiting it altogether its narrowminded, it doesnt consider the range of situations people find themselves in.
The adoption rate and foster care conditions are dismal, look into it. Sad.Specially CA.
How were they talking about it? How do you know they were telling the truth?Normally girls dont have abortions on a lark, what was the context?. Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear.

well one girl was saying she doesnt understand why she still looked fat after having her abortion. another asked her how many she had and she said it was her 2nd. i heard it a lot. some talked about how they went with their boyfriends or parents and some said they never told anyone and did it alone.

That sounds to me like they were simply talking about their experiences. It's good to verbalize sentiments that are hard to deal with. That's why there's support groups for all kinds of things. Maybe the school and public health needs to get involved more agressively in diseminating BC for both girls and boys. Provide more counseling on reproduction without blaming and demonizing.

yeah i know but its alarming that there are so many young girls doing this without parental knowledge. in california we tried to pass a law that required parental consent for a minor to have an abortion but it got voted down. i mean for a minor to be able to have an abortion with out parental consent is insanity. you cant even get your ears pierced without parental consent.

Not everyone's parents are caring, loving and understanding. You'd be surprised how many parents out there will downright kill their daughters if they knew about their pregnancy. That's why that law was passed, because young girls have died at the hands of their parents, be it from botched at home abortions or downright violence.
