One circuit of Whiteman Airport in Los Angeles using yarn tufts to verify flow attachment on the Fowler flaps. Melmoth 2 is a homebuilt airplane designed and built by Peter Garrison. The flaps are hydraulically actuated; the whining sound is the hydraulic pump. Touchdown speed is 48 knots indicated -- not calibrated -- at 2,200 pounds. The stall warning is audible for a few seconds before landing, but the stall has not yet occurred at the (rather ungraceful) touchdown. Details at www.melmoth2.com.
