  • will these traps only work for muskrats

  • @hunterman966

They are designed for catching muskrats... a mink might be able to get in there depending on where you set it...

  • The sides were j-clipped together

  • Bait is not used. These type of traps are set in the muskrats run. They run in pushing the door up and it closes behind them.

  • how big do u make the squre in the wire

  • The ywire fencing has 1" X 2" squares.

I make the end openings 5"X5", 6"X6" & 7"X7". I can stack them inside each other that way it only takes up 1/3 the space when storing them.

  • Nice video, but a little drug out. I think you could edit out quite a bit of the hammering and cutting.

  • what did u use to bind the sides?

  • The traps are placed in the runs. There is normally a hard packed down trail in the muddy bottom of the ponds that they frequently use. They could also be used at the den entrances. I usually use them at the shore line where they exit the water. Just make sure there is a couple of inches of water over the top of the trap. Otherwise they will fight if more than one goes in. Fighting leads to holes in the fur.

  • do you put the traps at the dens or what??? thanks!!!
