  • @burninator34 Actually there are very few places on the Hawaiian Islands where these trees still grow. They have problems with disease in the native habitat. The demand for Koa wood is beyond the lands ability to continue supply. Even if they haven't officially landed on the federal endangered list they will eventually. Commercial interests are one of the main reasons the tree isn't endangered. If it was officially listed the ability to harvest with impunity would be greatly reduced.

  • It's not endangered but I really think it's awesome you're planting them anyways. Tree's are good anyway you look at it.

  • @TheJuicer1414 Koa grow below the Hawaiian zones that experience snow, they are probably not adapted to it. They seem to do fine with a few degrees of frost though. Mine have experienced 28 degrees and survived fine.

  • Can u plant one in a place that experiences snow in certain parts of the year

  • @TheJuicer1414 The Koa are being planted at a County Park. No doubt some one some day will cut them down but it won't be me. I planted them to show people it is possible to grow this endangered tree somewhere other than the slopes of Hawaiian volcanoes.

  • are u going to chop them down when they get bigger to make slabs for building guitars?
