Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) explains his opposition to the movement underway in Washington to strip workers of the right to the secret ballot in the workplace. The misleadingly named "Employee Free Choice Act" would take away the right of workers to vote in private when determining whether or not to form a union, thus opening them up to coercion and intimidation.

MYTH: EFCA will prevent the use of secret-ballot elections.
REALITY: EFCA does not strip workers of their right to choose a secret-ballot election to decide whether to select -- or not to select -- a union representative. EFCA simply gives workers the additional option of selecting a union representative by majority sign-up.
