Imagine yourself flying through hairpin turns, shifting gears and working your way to the front, between a Camaro and Trans Am! White knuckle grip on the wheel as you work through the gears! SCCA Racing at its best is what inspired this 1965 Mustang Shelby R Tribute! Everything on this car is built with Trans Am racing history and Carroll Shelby's 1965 GT 350 in mind. This car takes it a step further with about fifty more horsepower. The engine is a 306 (302 bored .030 over) Mexican Block with 9.6 to 1 compression which runs on mid grade gasoline. Engine upgrades include a FRPP Z-303 hydraulic roller cam and tie bar hydraulic roller lifters. Edelbrock Performer RPM cylinder heads upgraded with screw in rocker studs, guide plates, .550 lift hydraulic roller springs, and Comp Cams roller rockers. The original S7MS Shelby intake, which has been ported to match the heads, is topped off with a LeMans Holley Carburetor pushing 600 CFM. The transmission is a 4 speed manual, 2.78 Top Loader known as the wide ratio, with a Hurst Competition Plus shifter with a Ford shift handle. The differential housing is an original 1965 Mustang K Code with a 3.50 ratio and a Detroit Locker rear end. The front suspension has been lowered 1" to lower the center of gravity and help in the turns. Also, helping the steering, is a 1" front sway bar and a 3/4" rear sway bar, Shelby pitman and idler arms, and Mustang GT springs and gas shocks. The exhaust duty is handled by 4 tube headers with 2 ?" side exit exhaust. Other new parts include a 3 core radiator, Petronic ignition, R model front apron, Shelby Grill, Shelby fiberglass hood, fenders, R model roll bar, fiberglass package shelf, 20 gallon gas tank with Cobra quick fill cap, Shelby deck lid pan, blanked out gas cap, blanked out C-Pillar vents inside and out, deleted headliner, deleted dash with Shelby R model gauge panel and new gauges, deleted glove box door, deleted inner door panels with lightweight sheet metal replacements, deleted rear bumper, Shelby Moto Lita steering wheel, Ray Brown quick release lap belts with shoulder harnesses, original radio delete plate, R model Lexan rear window with air gap, 15x7 Torque Thrust wheels with BFG G Force radial tires, driveshaft safety loop, rear axle limiting cables, and original Hi Po rear brake line hose and bracket. This Mustang is painted Wimbledon White with correctly spaced and tapered Guardsman Blue stripes and Guardsman Blue side stripes. This car has been done correctly in every aspect and would make a Mustang lover, or a Trans Am racing lover very proud to own. Do you want to own a piece of history? • $39,995 is the new price. This car is incredibly solid. Yes, the doors could have been lined up a little better on that side but no car is perfect. I have been doing this a long time and have yet to see a perfect car.

  • @GatewayClassicCars I disagree with the statement that no car is perfect. I have seen 100 point cars and they are perfect, just costs a lot of money and as you said this isn't a perfect car. This car was done with reproduction fenders which would account for the terrible alignment and not to mention that the inner fender wells on the inside of the engine bay look like shit and probably weren't painted. I agree with the price being too high, if it was a hipo 289 then maybe but not with a 302

  • Still a replicar nonetheless.

Tribute....a nicer way to say fake.

  • @GatewayClassicCars Do you still have that car?

  • Is this the Virginia car built by the father/son on a K-code fastback? It should have "copy" on the Shelby vin plate and have Bondurant's and Shelby's signatures under the trunk lid if it is.

  • Very nice accurate car, someone did their homework.

  • Gotta agree dude, it is horrible! :-/

Sad coz its such a valuable car.

  • Now there's a quality restoration...look at 1:15 at the horrible alignment of the door to quarter panel. Straighten it and the bottom striping wouldn't match. How could anyone let that fly??? Tribute or not, I bet this thing is garbage close up and personal. No thanks. Attention to detail gentlemen.

  • Awesome but too expensive! $ 38K would be about right........

  • droooooooling ))
